AN ASSAULT CHARGE
RESERVED JUDGMENT. Reserved judgment was given bv Mr E. Page, S.M., in the rehearing of the case in which William James Reedy, of Koro Koro, was charged with assaulting Alexander Gardiner, a, ranger. Gardiner alleged that Reedy assaulted him when he went to impound one of Heedy’s horses. The question was whether Reedy had actually assaulted Gardiner or whether Gardiner had walked off the premises voluntarily, and issued a summons. The magistrate held that Reedy had not given Gardiner sufficient time to leave the premises. He confirmed the fine of £5 already imposed, and ordered Reedy to pay £5 costs. Leave to appeal was refused.
