FOOTBALL DISPUTE
SETTLED BY ARBITRATION Last season a difference arose between the Auckland and Canterbury Football Associations regarding the payment of the Canterbury team's expenses in going to Auckland to play a Brown Shield game. The Canterbury team played at Manawatu on the way up and were defeated, and Auckland protested that this fact militated against the gate in Auckland and declined to meet the Canterbury demand for expenses in full. The council of the New Zealand Football Association supported Canterbury’s claim, but the Auckland Association still disputed it. Yesterday, at the meeting of the New Zealand Football Association, Mr R. B. Bunt (Canterbury) stated that the dispute between Auckland and Canterbury bad now been definitely settled. The matter had been submitted to arbitration that day, and both sides had agreed to accept the decision of the arbitrator. The matter was satisfactorily settled. (Hear, hear.)
