RANDOLPH ROSE

MAY VISIT SOUTH AFRICA AFTER ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS Upon their arrival in England, R. A. Rose, the New Zealand champion disinnee runner, and J. W. McHolm, aro to get into touch with A. E. Porritt, the N.Z.A.A.A. Council’s representative in England, by whom •heir movements generally will be arranged and supervised. Mr McHolm lias been requested by the New Zealand Council to present to Porritt a N.Z.A.A.A. blazer and a uniform in recognition of his services to New Zealand both on and off the track. Rose'i training quarters are to be outside London, and it is possible that arrangements made be made for the New Zealand champion to compete at some minor meetings before lie participates in the English A.A.A. championships, which are being held on July 2nd and 3rd. It is hoped that Porritt will compete l at this championship meeting as a New Zealand representative instead of as a member of tho Achilles Club. Although nothing has been settled regarding the route by which Rose and McHolm will return to Now Zealand, there is a feeling amongst members of the New' Zealand Conned at the present time that, if possible, the return trip should be made by way of South Africa in order that Rose might compete there, and so return the compliment paid by Mr C. A. Hadley in 1922 in sending a Transvaal-Natal amateur athletic team to New Zealand.
