KING’S THEATRE

“SO THIS IS MARRIAGE.” Those who go to the theatre seldom, as well as those wlio go more or less regularly, cannot afford to miss the Hobart Henley production, “So This is. Marriage,” which is the current attraction at the King’s Theatre this week. It is one of those rare pictureo which possess not only unusual excellence in direction, acting, suspense, and plot, but also includes a feature—an insert in natural colours of the Biblical story of David and Bath-Sho-ba—that is extraordinarily beautiful and out of the usual in every way. The story concerns the gay and extravagant wife, Eleanor Boardtnan, her humdrum husband, Conrad* Nagel, and the sympathetic bachelor friend, Lew Cody. The remark of the wife to the husband, “Why don’t you earn more money? Other men do,” is significant of tho situation that develops between them.

The insert in colours, which was taken from the eleventh and twelfth chapters of tho second book of Samuel, is a feature of this picture. Apart from the added attraction of the Biblical sequence, the whole film is novel and unusually entertaining. Eleanor Board man is fast becoming one of the screen’s most popular actresses, and her vivacious acting in this film is excellent.
