FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA

IN THIRTY SHORT STAGES ALAN OOBHAM'S PLANS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, April 16. It is understood that Mr Alan Cobham’s itinerary for his flight to Australia, is on the verge of completion. It differs materially from the late Sir Ross Smith’s. It consist* chiefly of short stages, nqmber about 30, none of them exceeding 500 miles. Apparently, the ’idea is for quick patrol refills and doing two stages daily, so that if the weather is favourable there is a prospect of cutting off at least a week of Sir Ross Smith’s time of 28 davs.

Cobham will probably cross the straits from Atamboca to Port Darwin and thence fringe Queensland and the Riverina to Melbourne.
