The head office of tho Canadian Pacific Railway, Montreal, recently cabled to the head ofiice of tho Union S team Ship Company, advising'that the fiorth wing of the Banff Hotel has been burnt, and that there is a small amount of damage to the centre building, but the. south wing is undamaged. The hotel will reopen on July Ist with ample public space and three hundred rooms, including the newly built annex,

MIDDLESEX HOME. Information has been received that the Federal Line steamer Middlesex which cleared Wellington on February 28th for New York, Boston, and West of United Kingdom ports, arrived at Glasgow on Monday. DREDGE OPERATING. Adverting to “Notice to Mariners,” No, 4, of 1926, the Auckland Harbour Board notifies that the dredge Hapai is now moored head eastward at a position (approx.) 084 deg. 1000 ft from the northern end of western tide deflector, and is working in a sontliwesterly direction towards the Western Wharf.

WAIRUNA LEAVES VANCOUVER. A cablegram received by the Union Company announces the departure of the Wairuna from Vancouver at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. She is due at Auckland on May 11th. HAURAKI~AT MELBOURNE. The Union Company has received advice that the motor-’ship Hauraki arrived at Melbourne at noon on Thursday from Wellington. She leaves Melbourne on Monday evening for Adelaide and Sydney, RARANGA TO LOAD. The Shatv-Savill Company advise* that tho Raranga is due at Wanganui on May 7th from Newcastle for loading.
