MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE At the monthly meeting of'the management committee of the Hoys’ Institute and S. A. Rhode’s Home for Boys there were jiresent: Mr L. T. Watkins (in the chair) Mesdames J. Hislop, G. T. Bell, Messrs G. E. Brown, C 5. C • Odlin, W. H. Clark, D. J. McGowan, and H S. Hislop Mr McGowan and Mr Hislop, who %<sro appointed to the committeo at the annual meeting held recently, were welcomed by the chairman.

The directors’ report stated that at a harvest thanksgiving service held during the month a great many useful gifts had been made to the boarding establishment by many kind friends. The thanks of tlio institute was also duo to the Pat Hanna “Diggers” for their generous invitation to 150 Institute boys to be present at one of their entertainments, which opportunity was gladly availed of by the boys. A very successful swimming carnival was held by tho Institute Club during the month, over which His Worship the Mayor presided. The cricket season had closed, and the boys aro now commencing football practices. So far ,three Rugby teams and six Soccer teams have been entered for the competitions. It is intended to run a series of concerts in order to assist the buffet and sports fund, the first to be held on April 24th, and on the last Saturday of each succeeding month, which will givo an opportunity to tho public to assist us by their patronage. The directors’ report w.as discussed, after which the sub-committees were elected for the ensuing year.
