Advice received states that jthe Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hacking has been delayed in Australia, and she is now expected to arrive at Auckland from Brisbane on April 19th. She is to commence loading at Auckland for London, and' will later proceed to Tokomaru Bay. Gisborne, Waikokopu, Napier, and Wellington, being advertised to sail finally from Wellington early next month. RUAHINE AT SOUTHAMPTON; The New Zealand Shipping Company has received word that the liner Ruahine, which sailed from Lyttelton fife' March 3rd for Southampton, via Panama, arrived at her destination on Thursday, after a passage of 36 days. WITH NEW YORK CARGO. The A. and A. Lino has been advised by cable that the steamer City of Melbourne sailed from New York on March 3lst with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports. The vessel is due at Auckland on May 6th and at Wellington a week later. TUGELA DUE MONDAY. En route from Continental ports, via Durban, and Bunbury, the steamer Tugela, which is under the agency of Bui’ps, Piirlp and Company, is duo at Wellington on Monday. The Tugela has cargo for discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Auckland. MAMA HI FOR HOME. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company ( advise that the steamer Maraari completes loading at Auckland to-day, and sails at daybreak td-morrow for London, via Monto Video and Tcncriffe.

WAIMANA TO COMPLETE. To complete loading, the Sbaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the steamer Waimana leaves Lyttelton on Tuesday for Wellington. She is duo here on April 14th and sails finally from this port on April 26th for London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe.

TAINUI LEAVES COLON. Bn, route from New Zealand, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have been advised by cable that the liner Tainui left Colon on Wednesday evening, April 7th, for Southampton and London. The iainui loaded in New Zealand and sailed from Wellington on March 17th. _ CARGO FROM CANADA. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the Baron Murray is expected sn iJ from St. John on April 20th with cargo for Auckland, Wellington and Lyttelton'. The Wirral, which is coming to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, is to leave Montreal on May 20th for New Zealand ports. ISLANDS SERVICES. The Tofup left Apia ydSterday for Suva, where she is due April 13th, and sails on the 15th for Auckland. The Ngakuta left Auckland April Cth f° r Cook Islands and leaves Rarotonga April 19th far Wellington, thence Auckland.

The exact cause of a parrot plucking out its feathers is - not yet perfectly known, but it is generally supposed to be due to improper ment of some kind. No 'certain cure is known, says Dr. Karl Russ, but the bird may be helped by having plenty to gnaw, also lime and sand, and the withholding of all titbite and unnatural food. According to Dr. Edmund J. Spriggs there are 10C calories in a pound of tomatoes, as against 116 in onions. 203 in bananas, 624 in eggs 1200 in bread, and 1620 in fat beef.

The Wairuna, now loading at Pacific Coast ports for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney, is expected to leave San Francisco about the middle of April for Auckland. The Waiotapu, from Newcastle, is due at Vancouver on April 14th. The Waitemata leave* Wellington today and is due at Vancouver on May 3rd.

The Hauraki leaves Wellington to-day for Melbourne, thence Adelaide and Sydney, and then returns to Pacific Coast. The Waihemo left San Francisco on March 19th for Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth, and is due at Napier on April 14th. THE CANADIAN MILLER. The Canadian Government Merchant Marine* has received a radio message from the master of the Canadian Miller, en route from Halifax, stating that tho vessel will arrive at Auckland at midnight to-night. T&e vessel later proceeds to Wellington, thence Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin to complete discharge. CANADIAN EXPLORER REPORTED. Cable advice received by tlie Canadian Government Line states that the steamer Canadian Explorer, which left Halifax on March 28tli, arrived at Panama at 9.30 a.m. on April 7th, and sailed again at 9.30 p.m. the same day for Auckland, where she is due on May Bth. KAIRANGA WITH TIMBER. An arrival in the 6tream at Wellington yesterday was the Union \ Company's freighter Kairanga, from Port Stephens, via Newcastle, and after pratique was granted berthed at No. 3,1 south, King's wharf, at 10.20 a.m. The Kairanga loaded hardwood poles and sawn timber at Port Stephens, and left there on March 30th for Newcastle, where she took in a quantity of \ coal.* She sailed from Newcastle on April 3rd, and experienced fine weather and moderate 6eas and winds on the trip across the Tasman. Captain R. Bruce is in command of the Kairanga, and, his officers are:— Chief, Mr A. E. Rawlins; second, Mr R, D. Brebner; Cftird, -Mr D. W. Blacklaws; chief engineer, Mr A. Lang; second, Mr R. Gardner; third,' Mr G. W. Hill. TASCALUSA IN PORT. The British oil tanker Tascalusa arrived in the stream at Wellington at 8 a.m. yesterday from San Luis, California, with bulk oil for discharge into’ the Union Company's tanks at Miramar. It is not known yet when she will he berthed, as the tanker Pleiodon is still discharging at Miramar, , and there is not room for the two vessels. Tho Tascalusa sailed from San Luis on March 73th and on the run down the Pacific experienced fine weather, with light breezes and moderate seas. Captain P. W..
