LAST OF THE SEASON
TAMAHINE’S SOUNDS TRIP, VISIT TO SHIP COVE. The Union Company’s fine expreM ferry steamer Tamahine made her last Sounds trip of the season during the week-end. A good run across tbs straits brought the vessel with her full complement of passengers to Picton early on Saturday afternoon. An opportunity was given those who desired to do so to see the town, and in the evening a most successful dance wa. held on hoard, which was attended qy a number of shore folks) I Early yesterday morning the Tamahine slipped down Queen Charlotte Sound and into Pelorns Sound, where anchor was dropped at Tennyson Inlee. Fishing parties secured good hauls, while other boat-loads landed at Elaine Bay. Noon saw the vessel on her way hack to Picton, a call being made en route at the famous Ship Cove, where Captain Cook first landed. The return journey to Wellington was completed in good time, the wharf being reached shortly after 9 p.m., after probably on* of the mflst enjoyable trips of the series.
