Giving evidence before the Tariff Board,' Mr Poole, shipbuilder, of Sydney and Adelaide, said that under the existing tariff it was impossible for Australian shipbuilders to compete against, oversea yards. He added that all. the yards here could have been kept busy during the i past few' years by work which was given overseas, and it conld have .been done here at a mnch lower rate. Lack of continuity of work was the greatest trouble.
