GERMANY’S ADMISSION REPORT MADE ON APPLICATION SUGGESTED PROCEDURE By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Reuter’s Telegram GENEVA, March 9. ' The committee of the league Assembly reported on Germany’s application for admission. It suggested tha* a sub-committee be appointed to deal with the matter in accordance with the usual procedure. The committee approved of Sir Austen Chamberlain's suggestion that the sub-committee be composed of France, Italy, Japan. Belgium, Cuba, Norway, Jugoslavia, Bulgaria. Greece, and the Irish Free State with a chairman and a vice-chairman. The sub-committee under the chairmanship of Sir Austen Chamberlain subsequently met and adjourned until to-morrow, pending the settlement of the question of the composition of • the council. WHAT IT WILL COST While the whirl of excitement goes on outside concerning Germany’s admittance, the first effects of' it were revealed in a Supplementary Budget of £41,000, a set-off to which will he Germany’s first contribution for tho current year. The Secretary-General (Sir Eric Drummond), explained that the new order of things involved a considerable augmentation of staff and accommodation, including the creation ,of 43 new

positions, of which eight would' carrv an average salary of £IOOO. The Budget provides for r the establishment of an office in Berlin for the purpose of replying to inquiries, and giving information and explanations to the German Press.

The Budget Commissiqn held up the Budget, pointing out that it was powerless to net, because the draft note submitted to the State members three months in advance, as required by the Constitution, asked the Assembly’s direction thereon. The Chi new. delegation announcer! that it is willing to nostpone its claim until September if the others, excepting Germany, act likewise. It is expected that then rapid progress, will be made.
