LBS TO TON BAKERS ON WORLD PARITY. Ter Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 11. At the Master Bakers’ Conference.. Mr W. R. Andrews delivered an address' to demonstrate that New Zealand bakers were not making enormous profits as compared with world parity. Taking the last given prices—Wellington 7d, London 44d, Sydney s|d, and Melbourne 5Jd —he stated that on . the SBsTs of a medium of the parity this made the New Zealand price 64d; hut the conditions were not akin. Home E rices wore not really small. Wages ere were double all round, and while one ton of flour in England was 2240 lb, a “ton” was 20001 b here. The large plants in England also caused the prices to be low; their output was 53 sacks of 801 b per man per week, or nearly five times as much as here.
