UNIQUE EXHIBITS DISAPPOINTED~WITH EXHIBITION STAMPS. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 11. , The third congress of the New Zealand Philatelio Society was held to-day in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition of postage stamps. The display was opened in the ‘ morning, and attracted a large attendance of the public throughout the day, while the opening ceremony held in the afternoon was held before a gathering of delegates from all parts of the Dominion and interested collectors. The exhibition is on the whole an excellent one, comparing favourably with the exhibitions held in' the past, All collections have been arranged with a view to educating and attracting the public, and although there are nospecial stamps of great rarity, many of the displays arj inique and particularly interesting. The outstanding exhibits are Mr A. L. Chapell’s J.istorv of stamp printing and production, Illustrated by specimen stamps, and Mr H: T. M. Father’s collection of the penny universal New Zealand stamps, which is the best example of philatelio research work in tho Dominion.
At tho congress that followed, members expressed their disappointment with the design and production of the exhibition special issue of New Zealand stamps, and the following remit was carried: “Seeing that the New Zealand 1920 exhibition stamps are neither a credit to the Dominion nor to tho artist, in future the Post Office Department be respectfully asked to consult the New Zealand Philatelic Council.”
