DIAMOND BUCKLES Newtown, the holders of the diamond buckles, played a challenge game for the buckles yesterday afternoon against a Ilataitai pair, Messrs R. J. Barnes and A. E Wells (skip). Newtown was re-nresented-bv Messrs A, Carman and J. Pollock (skip). A ga*me resulted until the 16th head, when the challengers, Ilataitai, drew away and won by 23—46. Tho wind interfered somewhat with th© play, but the game was a pleasant one. TEST MATCH AUCKLAND DEFEAT TARANAKI. T\?r Press Association. AUCKLAND. March 9. Tho first tost match between th© Taranaki and Auckland bowlers resulted in a victory for Auckland by 147 points to 123. Eight rinks were played, Auckland winning six.
