PICKED UP TOTE TICKED

ACCOUNTANT CHARGED ■ Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 9. An accountant, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty this morning to a chargo of attempting theft of £2 7s from the Canterbury Jockey Club, and not guilty to a charge of attempting to obtain £2 7s by means of a valueless totalisator ticket. He was convicted on the first chargo and ordered to pay costs. The police said the accused picked up a ticket on the racecourse and presented it. It had been altered to make it appear that it was a winning ticket. Counsel said most people thought that a ticket picked up on a racecourse was their own property. The accused lind nothing to do with manipulating the ticket.
