AS M.P. FOR LYTTELTON* HEARING THIS WEEK. The hearing of the petition by Mr J. McCombs, the unsuccessful candidate, against the election of Mr M. E. Lyons, M.P., to the Lyttelton seat at the general election will he commenced on Friday morning at Lyttelton. Their Honours Mr Justice Stringer and Mr Justice Ostler will comprise the court. In conformity with the procedure Inid down, each party has served the other with details of his objections. Having done so, it will not be possible to introduce fresh matter at the hearing.

Mr Lyons was declared the winner or the election contest by six votes. Mr McCombs now has objected to the names of 23 electors on the Lyttelton roll. Counsel‘for Mr Lyons in turn has given notice of objection to a fairly considerable number of electors whom he considers should not bo on the roll.
