AMERICAN FARM PRODUCE FEDERAL SELLING ASSOCIATION TO PURCHASE SURPLUS CROPS By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Telegram. (Received March 7, 11.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 6. Under a bill introduced on Saturday by Senator Brookhart, 250 million dollars - will be appropriated from the United States Treasury to create a joint Federal farm export and import marketing association, the management of which will be vested in a board of directors, who shall be three persons appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture from the nominees of various farming organisations.. The organisation will be empowered to purchase from farmers all exportable surplus crops at the averageproauction, plus 5 per cent, profit. The Department of Agrichlture will be required to fix the average cost of production on the basis of the cost over the five preceding years. “The ultimate aim of. the co-opera-tive organisation shall be to supply the needs of its members, to attain the control of tho necessary production, and to effect the union of the societies of the world in an international organisation having some common purpose.’’ President CooJUdge has ordered the increase of the tariff duty on butter from 8 to 12 cents a pound.
