TRAIN KILLS HOUNDS

Two hounds were killed by a train at a meet of the Kent West 6treet Harriers. • The hunt was returning from a meet at Hacklinge, near Heal, when a fox was unearthed. With hounds and hunters in full cry, the fox led his pursuers across the low* lying marshlands towards Sandwich Bay, and this took them across the main line of the Southern Railway between Deal and Sandwich. A. train was passing. The driver saw both fox and hounds, sounded his whistle and attempted to slow down. The fox «ot clear, but the engine dashed into the pack.
