DONE TO DEATH

REVOLTING TREATMENT OF CHRISTIANS IN ASIA MINOR WOMEN OUTRAGED AND MURDERED INCREDIBLE ATROCITIES COMMITTED BY TURKISH SOLDIERS Continuing his narrative, Mr Donohoe, the accredited representative of the “Daily Chronicle” in Asia Minor, details some of the revolting atrocities that have been committed by Turkish soldiers on Christians in Asia Minor. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. Australian and New Zealand Cable Association. (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 4. Atrocities, incredible in any part of the globe in the twentieth century, are described by Mr Donohoe in continuation of his narrative in the “Daily Chronicle.” Ishi Issaq, aged 20 years, a married woman, said she was seized at Saijo with the rest of the villagers. The Turks took her sister, herself, and other women into a house. The head man of the village was there. “Three soldiers seized me,” she said, “tore off mv clothes. I resisted, but each assaulted me, My sister was similarly treated in the same room. On the second day’s march the Turks killed twenty old men and women because they were no longer able to walk. On the third day the soldiers seized four women, who resisted violently. Continuing, Ishi said: “The soldiers tore off my clothes and die revolting things. When the women cried, ‘Oh, God, have pity on me,’ the Turks jeered. Three were beaten until they died, and a fourth was cut down unconscious, treated shamefully, and became insane.” Ishi gave the names.

Mikhail Poles, a peasant lad, said: “I was deported with the rest of the village. My mother, who was unable to walk, fell, and a soldier called her a Christian dog, struck her with a rifle butt, and then picked up a big stone and struck her twice. When he was satisfied she was dead he spat on her body. I fell on my mother’s corpse, and soldiers prodded me with bayonets.”
