The annual report of the Pqstmas-ter-General’s Department, tabled in the House of Representatives, showed that the net loss for the year ended June 30th, 1925, was £242,322. The earnings from all branches totalled £10,074,854, an increase, of £350,053 over the previous year. The working expenses, excluding interest charges, totalled £9,230,629, an increase of £781,853. The previous year showed a profit of £364,362.. The principal factors contributing to the changed financial aspect, compared with the previous year, were the reduction of the postage rate, £300,000’: application of radial charges for telephone calls, £82,000: reduced ■ cable rate, £17,500; mail steamer loss, £47,000; variations of Arbitration Court' awards, £2B3,(XX). . , ■ '
