BIG CANADIAN LAWSUIT FRUIT TRADERS CHARGED. Reuter’s Telegram. VANCOUVER, January 26. After 367 jurors and 861 talesmen had been called, approximately 900 of whom responded, a jury was chosen on Tuesday to hear the Government’s charge against 11 individuals and 42 fruit firms in Western Canada, alleging a combine and conspiracy. Counsel for the defence exercised 686 challenges out of a possible 636. The defendants had previously pleaded not guilty. The trial is likely to be prolonged, and to turn out the most sensational in the history of British Columbia.
