KING’S THEATRE

“LORRAINE OF THE LIONS.” The current attraction at the King’s Theatre this week is a Universal release entitled “Lorraine of the Lions.” The action of the picture starts in Australia, passes to the South Seas far 12 years, and finishes in San Franoisco. Norman Kerry is the star and Patsy Ruth Miller plays opposite him. As the daughter of a circus owner the girl is wrecked on a deserted isle with animals, the only other survivors of the wreck. She grows up with them. In San Francisco is a young mystic who looks into a crystal and sees the girl still living. The grandfather of the girl rescues her and returns her to civilisation. A giant gorilla is brought back with her. It becomes extremely jealous, refusing ta allow the girl to have human companions. The murderous fury of the beast at sight of the girl’s intended husband leads to a startling and sensational climactic thrill. The story, which was written by Isadore Bernstein, is an amazing study in animal psychology through which the threads of a powerful drama are woven. Edward Sedgwick directed. In the oast are Joseph J. Dowling, Fred Humes, Philo McCullough, Harry Todd, Frank Newburg, Rosemary Cooper, Doreen Turner, Jackie Goodrich, and W. Stewart MoCrea. A comedy, a gazette, and beautiful music by the orchestra, under Mr A. H. Jerome, complete an excellent programme.
