The Government intends to appoint three or four women to the Legislative Council when Parliament resumes on January 12th, Although Cabinet has not yet come to a definite decision, it is proposed that a bill shall be brought down in the Legislative Council to abolish that chamber forthwith. It is officially announoed that the Governor, Sir Dudley de Chair, has no intention of resigning, as he acted as he dl3 in connection with the Upper House appointments on the advice of the Colonial Offiee. Both Houses of ParEament have adjourned until January 12th. The Legislative Assembly passed the Constitution Amendment Bill enabling women to be appointed to the Upper House.
