HUTT VALLEY POWER BOARD

LAST MEETING OF YEAR CHAIRMAN CONGRATULATES BOARD. The fortnightly meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board took place yesterday. Present—Messrs J. *W. McEwan (chairman), A. J. Hobbe, I G. Laurence, H. Jay, B. Windley. A. J. McCurdy, A. W. Press, and H. Foley. The Plimmerton ratepayers wrote thanking the hoard for its decision to reduce the minimum charge. A letter was received -from the Public (Trustee, stating that interest on sinking funds had been increased. It was stated that in the Ohariu Valley 24 consumers had signed up to the present. There were approximately 40 houses In the Valley, so that with the advent of electricity here the load would in all probability grow half as much again. A notice of motion by Mr Press was as follows" That the following resolution passed at the meeting of the board held on December 3rd, 1925, be rescinded: 'Housing committee—On the motion of Messrs Barber and McCurdy, it was resolved that the report of the committee he adopted, and tihat they he authorised to proceed with the purchase of the section at Eastbourne under offer for .£450, and the erection of a house thereon, similar to that at TaWa Flat.’ " , The' matter will be held over for investigation until the next meeting. Mr J W. fMcEwan wished everyone the compliments of Oho season. He spoke highly of the boards work and the good feeling existing between the members. Members of the board stated that they reciprocated the chairman’s good wishes. ■ Mr McEwan also thanked the 6taff for their good work and co-operation during the year.
