VICE-REGAL A Press message from Reefton states that the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, arrived at Reefton at 10.40 o’clock yesterday. He received an address of welcome and replied, and then proceeded to the hospital, where the patients were visited. His Excellency was entertained at luncheon by the citizens, and in the afternoon attended a school prize-giving, and left subsequently by train for Greymouth. The Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C. (Minister for Defence) is expected to return to Wellington from Christchurch on Saturday. Mr David Jones, M.P. for Ellesmere, arrived from the south yesterday to attend a meeting of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board to-day. Captain S. J. Graham, the British Commissioner at the British Court at. the South Seas Exhibition, is at present in Wellington, and is consulting with H.M. Trade Commissioner (Mr Lnmbie) in regard to British commerce. Major Samuel, M.P. for Ohinemuri, is at present on a brief visit to Wellington, and is staying at the Midland Hotel. He leaves for the north by this evening’s express. Major Samuel has many friends in Wellington, who tendered him hearty congratulations on his success at the poll Lieut.-Colonel and Mrs. James Brav, two well-known figures in the Salvation Army in New Zealand for many years, are about to retire from active service, and will leave at the end of the month for Melbourne, where they will make their home. Lieut.-Colonel Bray is The oldest active male officer of the Army born and bred under the Southern Cross, and is social secretary ,to the Army in New Zealand. Mrs Bray has completed forty-four years or officership, and came out from England as a young lieutenant.
