“ODDS AND ENDS" PARTY

WITH LLOYD GEORGE LEADER POSSIBILITY IN BRITAIN. (Sydney “Sun” Gable.) LONDON,- December 8. Thq “Daily Sketch” asserts that the Liberals are about to lose Mr Lloyd George, who will form a new party of odds and ends, consisting of a central bloc from the Conservatives, Liberals, and Labour Party. Tho newspaper understands that this drastic step is due to a secret session of the Liberal and Radical Candidates’ Association, which rejected the greater part of Mr Lloyd George’s land scheme. This possibly means the disappearance of the Liberal Party as it is now constituted.

Recent cable messages show the restlessness of Mr Lloyd George in the comparative inactivity of the Liberal Party. At Coveutry he attacked the system of land monopoly, which he declared lav at the root of all social and economic evils. At a dinner given by tho Liberal Party in the House of Commons, in proposing the health of the Earl of Oxford, he said: “If I km the obstacle to Liberal unity, I am prepared to withdraw. I do not want to he the cause of the Liberal Party failing to get together.” The Earl of Oxford said ttint there was no reason for anyone to contemplate withdrawal. What they had to do was to try to woTk together.
