EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETS

A meeting of the executive council of tho above society was held on Tuesday evening, Mr H. A. Huggins presiding over a fair attendance of members. The allocation of sub-committees for the coming year was approved. Signor Cesaroni wrote offering a scholarship consisting of 16 lessons for the lady obtaining the highest marks in the sacred and operatic solos. It was resolved that the offer be accepted with thanks. Messrs Albert and Sons wrote requesting the executive, to place a boomerang mouth organ competition upon tho syllabus, and offering to donate the same prizes as awarded at Ballarat. It was resolved that the matter be referred to the programme committee. The Education Board wrote giving the dates of the mid-term holidays. The secretary stated that acting on that information he had booked the Town Hall from August 21st to September 11th, both dates inclusive.—lt was resolved that the secretary’s action be approved. The recommendation from the annual meeting to the effect that the secretary of the society (Mr G. W. ■Tenner) he granted leave of absence to enable him to visit Australia in the interests of the society was considereu by the executive and carried unanimously. Mr Jenner will leave on his trip early in February.
