NEW STAND AT ATHLETIC PARK PROPOSAL DISCUSSED BY WELLINGTON UNION SYMPATHY OF N.Z. BODY At a meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union, held last evening, Mr J. H. Prendeville presided. Messrs J. N. Millard, A. Lindsay, H. Murphy, G. F. W. Jackson, A. Jackson, and A. E. Nielson (secretary) were also present. In regard to . the presentation of a cup by Mr D. L. Taylor, of Vancouver, a letter was forwarded from the Now Zealand Rugby Union, to the effect that the cup had been allocated for competition among the primary schools of Grade 5 and over throughout the Dominion, It was decided that a copy of the conditions Koverning the cup be forwarded to the Primary Schools' union, requesting their comment. THE QUEST OF THE STAND Concerning the proposal to erect a new stand at Athletio Park, the chairman (Mr J. H. Prendeville) stated that an informal deputation from the management committee had waited on the New Zealand Rugby Union in regard to the matter. The fact that it was desiredto erect a stand capable of accommodating between '4OOO and 5000 spectators had been especially stressed. * Although as yet no definite reply had been received from the parent body, the deputation had been unofficially informed that their request would be assured of approval, also that financial assistance* would be guaranteed up to a certain limit.

“Personally, I do not think/' said Mr Prendeville, “that tKe time ie quite ripe to make formal application to the New Zealand Union, until we are able to furnish plans from the architect. However, in the meantime, we can rest assured that we have the New Zealand Rugby Union's sympathy in the matter/'
