Under the penalty of a heavy fine for the first offence, or imprisonment from a day to a month for the second offence, the decree forbids the wearing of short skirts, on the ground that they are repugnant to the Hellenic sentiment of beauty. Skirts must be lowered to 12in from the ground. The decree also forces dancing schools to close at 10 o’clock in the cVening. Pupils, if minors, ’ must be accompanied by parents or guardians. No girls under 18 are allowed to attend dancing saloons. There are no appeal: against sentences up to three days imprisonment, ns the police courts have summary jurisdiction.
