NAPIER WOOL SALES

CONCLUDING DAY VALUES NO IMPROVEMENT SHOWN. Per Press Association. NAPIER, December 8. Tbe second Napier wool sales of the 1923-26 season concluded to-day, no improvement whatever being shown in the prices ruling to those offered by buyers for earlier catalogues. Bradford, the Continent and America were not eager buyers. They may have wanted wool, but did not display the keenness that had marked previous sales. In comparison with the opening sale, a month ago, the market was dull, bidding being lifeless. It is felt in some quarters that prices must fall still further, and that ■where to-day Is was being offered for good average wools later sales in the season would find the same class of wool only bringing single figures. The Continent was a big? factor at the opening sales of the season in keeping prices up to a satisfactory level, but from the competition prevailing at the second Napier sale it seems as though Continental orders now being filled, that there is a weakening in competition from that market, and that Bradford, which was practically out of the market at the first sales, are now stepping in, the prices now reaching a level which enables her buyers to operate with 6ome freedom. Compared with November prices have declined as follows: Superfine, Id to 13dj super medium, lid to 2d; average, l4<l to 2s<l; inferior, 2Jd to 3d; pieces and bellies, Id to l£d; crutchings, Id to Lambs: Good, jjar to 3d; average, par; lambs, seedy and inferior, par to lid.
