FIRES
OUTBREAKS AT GREYMOUTH. #
Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, November 17. A six-roomed cottage owned and occupied by S. Mclvor, was totally destroyed by fire at Runanga at 9.3 Q this morning. Mr Mclvor was working at a mine, Mrs Mclvor had left for Greymouth shortly before the outbreak was discovered, and the four children were away at school. There is a small amount of insurance on the house,, but none on the furniture or the piano. Carpenters’ tools, yalned at £3O, were also destroyed. A fire at 1.40 yesterday morning at Tate’s hoot shop and the Bristol Piano Co., Tainui street, caused considerable damage to stock ny water and to the rear of the buildings by flames. Mr Tate estimates his loss beyond the insurances as heavy. The insurances are: £BOO on the stock, £4OO on grindery, and £IOO on the cash register. Mr Lymons owns the buildings, which are insured for £ISOO. The fire spread to Lymon’s millinery showroom and damaged the stock to the extent of £SOO. which is covered by insurance. The damage to the piano shop is slight.
