ROSE SHOW
THE QUEEN OF FLOWERS EXHIBITION AT TOWN HALL. The Rose Show of the Wellington Horticultural Society waa held yesterday in the Town Hall, and while the entries were not so numerous as usual' owing to the late season probably, yet the quality of the exhibits were as high as ever. A magnificent display of roses occupying one whole stand was made from the rosery at the Zoological Gardens, and once again the City Council’s show of flowers and plants from the Botanical Gardens and city parks was wonderful, arranged in tiers along the front of tlje stage, every flower at present in bloom seemed represented, making a beautiful show. A new and pleasing feature was a display of native shrubs and flowers, gathered and shown by Mrs T. Fisher, of Rona Bay. In this were to be found a large variety of native plants. Several professional displays added greatly to the exhibits, and there was a large entrance among the decorative, section, especially in decorated tables. One in particular, of pale mauve violas, was particularly effective. Bouquets of roses had a number of entries, and Miss Murray displayed a beautiful basket of roses. The show was opened by His Worship the Mayor, Mr C. J. B. Norwood, who was accompanied by Airs Norwood. Mr Harconirt, president of the society, received them.
