He arrived at the Terrace Gaol on the 10th, and an application was made on the 11th for a warrant to commit him to Porirua. This warrant did not reach the gaoler until the 14th, and before it could be given effect to the prisoner was dead. On the morning of the 14th the prisoner became restless, and it became necessarv to place him in a belt and handcuffs with a strap round his legs. He was last seen about 12.30 p.m., and a few minutes after 1 o’clock he was found dead. It was clear that he had committed suicide.
