The Fairy Ring
My Dear Merrymakers,— The days are really getting longer, aren’t they?.. . . If only they would get a wee bit brighter! Let’s have a competition about Springtime ■ before it’s all over. Write and tell us why you love it. There are such a lot of reasons if you just stop to think. And I expect you have reasons of your own. Shall I tell you one of mine? There is a gully near my home, and all Winter it is just bare boughs, and tins, and old boots, and rubbish, but when Spring comes scattering her green buds, and all the ugliness is hidden under the network of leafy twigs . . . all in a week it is Fairyland. This time wo want our Springtime picture painted in words. Don’t make it too much like a composition . • • remember you are “talking” in the Ring, and don’t let your “talk” sound any older than you are. Put your ages at the top. and send them in as soon as yon can. - Good-night, Chickadees* Yours, . FAIRIEL.
