CANTERBURY MARKETS
EXPORT OF POTATOES. % Per Press Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, September 22.'. The produce market continues very dull. The Karetu sailed last night for Sydney with 13,100 sacks of potatoes, nearly 7000 less than the bookings, but it has been«evkleut for several weeks that a full booking would not materialise. One cause «f this is the quantity rejected, due in a measure to the departure of the boat and another reason is the non-delivery of a proportion of the purchases on account of the weather. The departure of the .Karetu has left few potatoes in Lyttelton. Another vessel is due to sail for Sydney about the end of the month and another later, and as the price remains satisfactory on the other side further export is probable. The which left for Auckland on Friday night, took 4900 sacks and the next vessel is duo to leave on tho 29th. Business is on a basis of .£8 per ton f.o.b.s.i, the equivalent on truck value being IDs, which growers are not disposed to accept. The seed position, recorded last‘weekend, is unchanged. Peas ore in good demand for export at 7s 3d f.o.b.s.i. for No. I’s.
