A SUMMER SCHOOL
WORKERS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION WEEAKOA STATE FAKM. At tbe last meeting of tbe District Council of the Workers' Educational Association, it was definitely decided to hold a summer school in connection with the movement at tho Weraroa State Farm, near Levin, which has been kindly lent for the purpose by the Agricultural Department. For several years past a summer school has been most successfully carried out in the Canterbury district, but this year, owing to the Dunedin Exhibition, it was thought advisable to uhundon the gathering in the South Island in favour of this initial effort in the Wellington district. The school will take placo during tho Christmas-New Year holidays, beginning on December 26th and continuing until January 4th. The subject upon which the lectures will be delivered aud the discussions ensue is to be that great problem of the day: “International Relations." This will be interpreted widely to cover geo-
graphical, economic, sociological, religious, and philosophical aspects *f the problem, including tho Tery debatable subjects of population, peace, and war. Arrangements nave been made to ensure a strong academic staff. In general, the mornings will be devoted to study, the afternoons to recreation—games, walks, and various excursions to places of interest—and the evenings to popular readings, music, and entertainment. The camp fee will be .£3; children under 12, half price; and students must bring their own blankets. As it will be necessary to make arrangements for catering, students are requested to send in their applications as soon as possible, accompanied by a covering deposit of 10s. Enrolment forms will be available at the different centres of the W.E.A., and full information can be obtained from Mr J. Rend, Wellington secretary, Trades Hall, Vivian street. To all those who enjoy the open spaces and great "out-of-doors/' free from the restrictions of city life, this camp will make a decided appeal, and the committee confidently expects that this first undertaking in tho 'Wellington district will meet with tho success it deserves.
