MAY CAUSE TROUBLE
EXCLUSION OF SAKLATVALA WHO SHALL REPRESENT INDIA? Reuter’s Telegram. (Received September 20, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, September 18. President Coolidge feels that the officials had no alternative when they revoked the passport of Mr Shapurji Saklatvala. Tho fact that he is a Communist member of the British Parliament does not, in the opinion of tlic President, give him a special status. Senator Borah, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, expressed apprehension lest the exclusion of Saklatvala might he harmful to American interests in India. He said Saklatvala was in a position to make demands to the British Government that India be represented at the interparliamentary meeting. If this should happen tbo opposition to the Communist’s entry might bo withdrawn.
