President Coolidge feels that the officials had no alternative when they revoked the passport of Mr Shapurji Saklatvala. Tho fact that he is a Communist member of the British Parliament does not, in the opinion of tlic President, give him a special status. Senator Borah, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, expressed apprehension lest the exclusion of Saklatvala might he harmful to American interests in India. He said Saklatvala was in a position to make demands to the British Government that India be represented at the interparliamentary meeting. If this should happen tbo opposition to the Communist’s entry might bo withdrawn.
