DRASTIC CHANGES IN N.S.W. ARBITRATION COURT ABOLISHED WAGE-FIXING TO CONTINUE By Telegraph —Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, September 19.. Drastic provisions in the new Arbitration Bill, drafted by the Cabinet, wore disclosed to a meeting of the Parliamentary Labour caucus, and were ultimately approved. The hill provides that an Industrial Commission 6hall be appointed to take the place of the State Arbitration Court and of the Board of Trade, and that the Arbitration Court and Board of Trade shall be abolished The establishment of conciliation committees, the extension of preference to unionists in all industries under the jurisdiction of the State as far as the Constitution permits, and the restoration of arbitration rights to public servants, are provided for in the -bill. It is proposed that, the Commission shall consist of representatives of the employers and employees, with an independent chairman of judicial mind, who shall have no deliberative vote. The Commission will have power to fix wages for various centres within the State, not one amount to cover the whole State as at present.
