“BARRACKING” OVERDONE

Sharp, captain of the Lancashire County Club, has raised the whole problem of “barracking,” especially when it so persistent that the whole side is upset, Mr Sharp says: “So bad is it at Old Trafford (Manchester) that the Lancashire County team plays better' when away from home.” 1 J. W. H. T. Douglas (Essex) says: “Sharp is a great sportsman, and I am confident he would not take action without sufficient reason. The barracking is usually started by a person who has had a couple of glasses of beer, and the cries are taken up by the crowd -like children. It is time that something was done to deal with the unruly spirits who have been turning a ■ cricket match into a bear garden.” P, F. Warner (Middlesex) says: “Shaip is the best judge of the situation. If he felt impelled to take action then the barracking alone must have been something extraordinary, since Sharp would not act without the strongest reasons.”
