A PETITE DISPLAY

SMART AND FASHIONABLE,

No more striking example of local or New Zealand industry is to be seen anywhere in the exhibition than the stand set out in exquisite taste by Fowlds, the well known outfitters, of central Manners Gtreet. The centrepiece is a very fine array of Petone rugs made at the noted mills within almost a stone’s.throw of the city. The colours are blended with great care, and cover a useful range, the Weka rug, ladies’ light weight, being 565, the Karaka, medium weight 70s, Otira, a heavy weight travelling rug ior train or motor travel at £5, the Pairawa, a better qualify at 110 s, and the Prince, of the quality presented to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, is priced at 130 s, and is a beautiful specimen of New Zealand rug work. The. Banders tie is a Wellington product, and equal in quality to anything that can be imported, and as the prices onlyrun from 3s 6d to 5s 6d, it only needs to he said that there are no more 'fashionable ties of better quality to he obtained even though fancy prices he paid. The wide range of gentlemen’s hats comprises another product of kcal industry, being made at the National Hat Mills, and while a New Zealand article of such merit can bo obtained at 255, for that is the price, it is hardly practical to pay more. The fourth item of gentlemen’s wear is also a New Zealand manufacture, this time from the Northern city of Auckland. This is the Domo braces, fully elastic, and well made throughout for comfort and service. These four items not only engaged the attention of fentlemen, but also interested a numer of ladies who had in mind the se-

lection of an appropriate gift for husbands or brothers. The stand is in the left avenue near the partition which divides the two 'sections of the exhibition.
