(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tlie Masterton itacing Club baa decided to allot not more than £4OOO in stakes for the three days’ racing during the new season. It has been decided to appjy to the Minister for the loan of a day in the autumn for the purpose of holding a jubilee meeting m March. The club has elected the following officers for the ensuing year:— Patron, Mr J. lorns; president, Mr C. F. Vaßance; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Cooper, G. H. Yates; honorary timekeeper, Mr L. S. Nicol; treasurer, Mr C. F. Vallance (all re-elected); stewards’ committee, Messrs C. J. Bennett, R. Cooper, A. A. Cameron,' F. E. Dorset, E. G. Eton, S. J. W. Gill, T. Ingley, F. A. Jenson, D. K. Logan, R. McKenzie, O. J. Percy, K. Mcßean Stewart, J. B. Thomson, F. B. Vallance. . i. ■ The death has occurred at Waimiro, Wefier. of Mr Arthur Wilcox, at the age of 61 years. Deceased was the father of Mesdames Sounness and F. Thomas, of Pongaroa. Dr M. Trimble, of Masterton, has been eleoted a life member of the Wairarapa Soldiers’ Hostel in recognition of the servioes which he has rendered that institution. At the annual meeting of the hostel last night the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:-—President, Mr J. H. Irving (re-elected); vice-president, Mr R. McLaren (re-elected) ; treasurer, Mr R. S. Gerrand (re-elected); committee, Messrs A. L. Bennett, F. Wotton, A. E. Dickason, J. Barnard, and D. Thomson.
