FARMERS’ UNION CONFERENCE

REMITS CARRIED.,

The annual Dominion conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union wae' continued last evening, the president, Mr W. J. Poison, presiding. The following remits were carried: — That the conference is in favour of universal herd testing, and urges its branches to.advocate it, and that the Government be asked to devise a scheme whereby the herd testing associations would have the official recognition of the Agricultural Department. That it be made compulsory to have all unregistered cattle dehorned before tbe age, df two years. That breeders of Btud stock, when selling other than their own breeding, be compelled by law to give tbe breeders names. That the veterinary branch of the Agricultural Department be urged to take more urgent steps in investigating diseases in sheep and cattle with a view to finding the causes and cure.
