Port Campbell and Corinthic. HEMP. Manila market opened dull and quotations declined to £45 "and value for “J” grade August-October shipments. Somewhat steadier at close, and “J" grade August-October shipments qnbted at £45 10s. New Zealand market quiet. Secondhand sellers offered July-September shipments, highpoints, at £4O; fair at £36 10s; but no business reported at these prices. Market easier at the close. TALLOW. Market quiet and* demand is only moderate at auction. No. change in prices except for mutton, dark to dull, 42s 6d to 43s 6d per cwt; beef, fair to‘good, 44s 6d to 47s per cwt; mixed, fair to good, 44s to 47s per cwt; gut, etc., SBs to 42s per cwt. APPLES. Market somewhat improved and prices about same as last quotations. Condition of Raranga shipments as further examined same as indicated last week. WOOL. Sales closed . Thursday. Continental demand maintained, througtout Fine merino closed firm, 5 per cent, above May rates, but other descriptions have barely maintained their position, closing par to 5 per cent, below last series. Faulty sorts show full extent of drop. Average closing rates:—6o's to 64's (merino). Is 8d to 2s Id per lb; 56's, super half bred, Is 7d to Is 9d per lb; 48’s, fine crossbred, Is 3d to Is 6d per lb; 44’s to 46’s, medium crossbred. Is 2d to Is 4d per lb; 36’e to 40’s, coarse crossbred, Is Id to Is 2Jd per lb. 142,000 bales offered, of which it is estimated that 112,000 were sold.
