' Delayed by the storm, the fast unit of the United States fleet, the repair ship Altair, reached Melbourne two days-after the other ships. From Tuesday till Friday, the Altair battled against strong gales and heavy seas, and gradually fell behind. No. fear, .however, waa felt for her safety, as she ifl a solidly-built vessel, capable of riding such a storm.
