ALICE FERGUSSON’S VISIT. ‘ Her Excellency. Lady Alice frergusson, again displayed her sympathy with and active interest in the/ charitable work carried on ' in the city' when last week, accompanied by Captain Wentworth, she visited the Citizens’ Day Nursery. In the absence of Lady Luke, the president) Lady Stout, and Mrs R. Kennedy, hon. secretary, received He# Excellency, who was presented with a pretty bouquet of violets and daphne by one of the nursery family. Mrs Alex. Gray, in a few happy words, welcomed .Her Excellency, and Miss Stewart, the matron, explained the nature of the work carried on. In replying, Her Excellency wished the institution every-success, and expressed the opinion that the nursery must he of the very greatest assistance to mothers of young children who could not often get orGceep help, as well as to those who had daily to earn a living. Her Excellency said that often when passing she had wished to call in, and very graciously requested permission to do so at anv time- while the njirsery ivas’open. After many questions and fully iiispecting every nook of the home Her Excellency left with the assurance of the committee and the matron that her visit would always ho welcome, and an inspiration to all workers py carry on.
