STREET IMPROVEMENT. (Special to "New Zealand Times/’) OTAKI, July 25: At Friday night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council, « Councillor Kilsby, (chairman of the. works committee) said his committee favoured-the purchase of a metal-crusher, etc., for street improve^ <ment. Councillor Hannah agreed that some steps should be taken for Street improvement, favoured the purchase of a crusher and roller, considering money in this direction Would bo well spent. It was agreed that a poll be taken on September 9th for a loan, the engineer m the meantime to ascertain necessary particulars. WATER EXTENSION Councillor Hannah favoured water extension to the Tasman and Rangiuru beaches, pointing out that \f the necessary work was put in hand -it would find werk for the unemployed -and help to wive business, which was at present dul). He moved the contracts bp let for the work.—Seconded by .Councillor Ryder and carried. THE RANGIURU BRIDGE The Rangiuru bridge, stated Councillor Hannah, was,, according to residents-un-safe for traffic, and many were afraid to use it. /He favoured something being l done at once, as’in a month or so visitorn would be plentiful. ; < . EUCHRE PA^TY The euchre party anA danc« held by tho Rangiuru Temus Club on Wednesday night proved mpst enjoyable, although the weather interfered considerably withthe "attendance. Mrs Jones Won the lady's priae, and Mr Arthur Knox the men s trophy; while ’ Miss' Nancy Cleland secured the consolation/and Master Adrian Shut© the ’’booby." A special priao was given Master Keith Knox. Mr C. Or. Jones, ’wp-o proved-an; able secretary, also acted as M.C., while file Rangiuru Orchestra supplied fine music. During the evening Miss Percival gave an elocutionary item in good style. Slipper was supplied and enjoye^L
