LONDON’S HOMELESS
RESULT OF A CENSUS. , A census of homeless persons in London, is taken once a_year, on a winter.night, by the Public Health Committee of tho' London County Council. The commit-, tee, in their recent report, state that such a census was taken on February 20th. The night wus clear and fine. / Only five persons (women) were found sheltering under arches or on staircases, in the streets- 76 men and 37 women were found, compared with fit men and 17- wo-' men on the night of the census in 1924. At the censuses in recent years, says the report, it has been noticed that tho old type of vagrant has almost entirely disappeared, and that most of the individuals found homeless are persons of a different typo, who are reluctant to seek assistance.
