BOXING
CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST
MURRAY‘v. TBOWERN. More than usual interest is being taken in the forthcoming tournament, in view of the championship contest ‘.between holder, and Trowern, which will be the principal event. Since winning the light-weight championship Murray has been successful in defending the title, and established himself as one of the most attractive boxers New Zealand has produced. He has had a considerable spell, extending over 12 months, through a physical disability, but now reports himself as fit and well again, and reports of his training ‘work which have reached Wellington go to show that his friends consider that the spell has done him good. Trowern has made short work of both opponents in Wei, lington, and on that form must be considered very hard to beat. His vigorous style ensures a fast contest, and the general opinion is that Murray will reSuiro to he in exceptional condition if e is to retain his title. Some excellent amateur preliminaries are promised with every prospect of a special contest' between Morgan and Rodda, who met at Blenheim during the week and provided one of the hast amateur contests seen for years. The box plan will open on Tuesday morning, and in view of the probability of a record bouse, intending patrons will be well advised to book eariy.
