ESSAY ON THE FROG
A Maori boy was' told to write an essay on "The Frog/’ This is what ho wrote: What a queer bird the frog are! When he sit he 'stapd, almost. When he hop be fly, almqst. He ain’t got ho sense, hardly, either. He ain’t got no tail, hardly, either. He sit ob what he ain’t got, almost. It was cleaning day at the zoo. All the animals had to be shifted, from the cages they usually ocoupied into fresh ones'! An Irishman was. assisting with the transfer of the hyena: "Stiddy there, lion,” he quivered. ■ "What’s the idea.” asked a fellow-attendant, "calling, that hyena a lion?” "Have ye no tact? Can’t ye see ’tie flattering the haste that I am?”
