RED CROSS BALL
. A special meeting was held last night to consider the question of holding the second annual Red Cross ball. Friday. September 25ih ; is tho date decided, and a sub-committee has teen set up to arrange the invitation list, so it is requested .that nominations he sent in as soon as possible. The prices are to be £1 Is for a double ticket, 12s : 6d- for a man’s single, and 10s 6d for a lady. Then- Excellencies the Governor-Gen-eral and the Lady Alice Fergusson are granting thejr patronage. There will be a guard of honour of 100 Red Cross nurses in uniform. Captain Abel,' who is just baok from. Australia, will introduce a very novel scheme of 'decoration which will be most effective. The City Council is to be thanked fpr granting a concession in the charges for. the Town Hall. The meeting was a largo and most enthuaiastic one, and* ,all those present resolved themselves’ into a hall committee, with . various ' sub-committees for music, supper, decorations, eto. Apologies were received from a number ,of well knoWn people unable Txj be present but ready, to help.
